146 written public comments have been received by staff in objection to the proposal and one written public comment in favour of the proposal.
The letters received represent positions of opposition with regard to the following themes:
• Objections to loss of greenspace, trees and biodiversity
• Objection to the proposed access for Areas F and J
• Negative impact to property values
• The development of Area H violates property rights to back onto the green space of
Millcroft Golf Course
• Traffic and public safety
• Construction impacts and neighbourhood security
• Stormwater management and flooding
• Application is not required to meet Burlington's Growth Objectives
• Intent of OPA 117 is to preserve the lands as Open Space
• Concerns with potential soil contamination from pesticides and whether the lands are suitable for residential development
• Proposal will lead to overcrowding of schools and create unsafe travel conditions for students
• Concern with the Minister's Zoning Order circumventing the planning process
• Transparency and public participation
• Proposed development will further alter the character of the Millcroft neighbourhood
• Overburden infrastructure
• Concerns that the residents were misled about the remaining lands operating as a golf course
