If Elected Candidate Questionaire

Dear Candidate,

With the Provincial election fast approaching, the MAD Executive team would like to take this opportunity to reach out to each candidate in Oakville North Burlington.

Millcroft Against Bad Development, commonly known as M.A.D., represents over 15,000 members of the Millcroft Community and the Province. Our mission is to maintain the existing Millcroft Golf Course lands as Major Parks and Open Space.

The Millcroft golf course, which is completely embedded inside our community, was designed to provide three essential needs: to provide a home to our abundant Wildlife, to act as a Flood Management System for stormwater events, and to provide Environmental Open Space for the health of both our 10,000 Millcroft residents and neighbouring communities.

The City of Burlington brought forth a resolution in July 2024 requesting the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing to issue a Ministerial Zoning Order (MZO) to prevent development on parts of the Millcroft Golf Club by Millcroft Greens Corporation. Burlington is  already at a deficit of 104 hectares of urban green space needed to accommodate Burlington's planned population growth by 2051. As such, the City of Burlington remains committed to protecting this much needed green space given the golf club's role as a stormwater collection point on a floodplain, and Burlington's abundance of other options for development to meet growth targets.

If elected, will you pledge to work with the Province of Ontario to issue a Ministerial Zoning Order (MZO) to retain the entirety of the Millcroft golf course as Parks and Open Space, both the area approved for development and the balance of the course not currently proposed for development?

We kindly ask that you submit your statement before the deadline of Monday February 24, 2025.
