Millcroft Against Bad Development (MAD), a group of local residents fighting against the upcoming development of part of the Millcroft Golf Course, will be holding a rally on Saturday, April 26 to ask Premier Doug Ford and Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Rob Flack to step in and stop the development.

The Ontario Land Tribunal approved the development in June 2024 after the City of Burlington rejected an application to build 90 single-family units and 130 apartment units at 2155 Country Club Dr. and 4274 Dundas St. Four holes from the golf course would be removed to make room for the project.

The rally, which will be held at the seventh hole of the Millcroft Golf Club from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., is planned to be a community gathering to show how invested the community is at preserving Millcroft’s green space. Organizers of the event stated that the rally was not a protest.

The City of Burlington requested for the last Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Paul Calandra, to issue a Ministerial Zoning Order (MZO) to shut down the development in July 2024. An MZO can regulate the usage of land and overrules municipal zoning by-laws, which could prevent the development of the golf course. MAD is asking Flack to act on the request as part of the gathering.
