Green Space At Risk Of Destruction
For weeks, residents have watched in disbelief as massive fences are erected, transforming this green sanctuary into what many are calling a ‘prison fortress.’
This is not just a change in scenery, but a harbinger of drastic developments that will alter our community forever.
The plan is as audacious as it is destructive. Construction of residential homes is slated to begin in the spring of 2026. But these aren’t just any homes – they are being built on a flood plain, in an area where nature has thrived for over 30 years. In the name of progress, over 400 trees, many towering 30 to 40 feet tall, are about to be uprooted. Our forested area, a haven for local wildlife and a natural treasure for our community, is being sacrificed.
The impact of this development is profound. The removal of our century-old trees will not only destroy our local ecosystem, but it will also affect the delicate balance of nature that has been nurtured here. The proposed housing will disrupt the flood plains, jeopardizing both property and natural resources, with long-term repercussions for everyone in Burlington.
Millcroft residents are outraged and angered by this reckless project. With every fence placed and every tree marked for removal, our community loses a bit more of its identity. The construction of these homes is more than just a housing project – it’s a statement that our community, our green space, and our cherished parkland can be overridden by corporate ambitions.
We need to take action now!
This is our home, and we cannot stand by as it is systematically dismantled.
