Conservation Halton Wants your Flood Information
Conservation Halton (CH) and Wood Environmental and Infrastructure(Wood) are working on updating the current flood plain map for Millcroft. They state that any new housing developments will not worsen existing issues or create new ones. They are asking everyone who has experienced a flooding event on or near their property to send them their story and photos before Oct 28th. They are looking for resident engagement and ground level input.
Residents from Simcoe, McKerlie, Hadfield, Simcoe, Latimer, Millcroft Park, Rosemead, Amaletta, Medland, Berwick and Kane have experienced flooding and have sent us their stories and photos. With your added information we will be sending a huge file to CH and Woods next week with all the feedback, photos and videos that have come in.
Send them to: Conservation Halton mhowatt@hrca.on.ca , and Wood Environment & Infrastructure matt.senior@woodplc.com cc:admin@millcroftagainstdevelopment.ca
Participate in Burlington‘s Oct 28th Meeting on Tree Protection
The City of Burlington is looking for feedback on proposed Tree Protection and Enhancement Guiding Principles and a Private Tree Bylaw update. Your input is needed. A virtual public info session is planned for Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. and an online survey is open now until Nov. 5, 2021. For more information and the survey, visit the website.
A healthy urban forest improves the quality of life for City of Burlington residents. By providing a framework for protection and enhancement of all trees on public and private property, the City of Burlington’s urban forest will continue to grow with the goal to reach 35 percent tree canopy cover by 2041. Burlington is currently at 23 percent and stands to lose close to 1,000,000 ash trees due to Ash Borer disease.
Every Millcroft Home will receive a Package soon!
Over the next several weeks, every household in Millcroft will receive a small information package from M.A.D., which will include a copy of the wet-ink petition for residents to sign and return to a member of the M.A.D. team. As a reminder, the wet-ink petitions will be presented to the Ontario Legislature in the petition format required by the provincial government and will supplement the thousands of online petitions that evidence the strength of the opposition within this community and beyond.
