MPP Triantafilopoulos Continues To Advocate

Resident update regarding MPP Effie Triantafilopoulos’s ongoing advocacy efforts.

Thank you for writing to me regarding the future of the Millcroft golf course lands and for sharing your concerns about the preservation of green space within the community.

This matter is of significant importance to many Millcroft residents. I recognize the important role that green spaces play in supporting community well-being, environmental resilience, stormwater management, and the overall character of established neighbourhoods.

Over the past several years, I have continued to raise the concerns of Millcroft residents directly with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and advocate for our community’s position.

Following the Ontario Land Tribunal’s decision in June 2024 that granted Millcroft Greens Corporation the right to develop portions of the Millcroft Golf Club course with a 6-story building and 92 homes, I wrote to the Hon. Rob Flack, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing to bring renewed attention to this issue. As a result, Mr. Dan Mathieson, Ontario’s Provincial Land and Development Facilitator, was assigned to facilitate discussions between the City of Burlington and Millcroft Greens Corporation in an effort to explore whether a possible resolution could be reached.

I subsequently wrote directly to Mr. Mathieson to provide further background, reaffirm my support for the Millcroft community, and urge him to use all tools and resources available while exploring possible solutions with the two parties. Mr. Mathieson acknowledged the importance of the matter and recognized my continued advocacy on behalf of Millcroft residents. Unfortunately, the facilitation process did not result in a negotiated agreement and has since concluded. The Office of the Provincial Land and Development Facilitator continues to be engaged with both parties in effort to advance a resolution.

The matter has now moved to a new stage, with two separate Minister’s Zoning Order requests having been submitted concerning the Millcroft lands.

Millcroft Greens Corporation submitted a request relating to additional residential development at 2155 Country Club Drive, as well as expanded land-use permissions at 4274 Dundas Street. The public consultation period for this request, posted under ERO Number 026-0551, closed on July 5, 2026.

The City of Burlington has submitted a separate MZO request seeking to maintain existing recreational and open-space uses and protect certain lands from further development. This request is currently posted under ERO Number 026-0550, and residents may submit comments until July 22, 2026.

I continue to recognize the importance of protecting Millcroft’s green space and ensuring that the views and concerns of residents are carefully considered as part of the review of these requests.

I encourage residents who have not yet done so to review the City of Burlington’s MZO request and participate in the ongoing public consultation. Public input is an important part of the process and provides an opportunity for local perspectives, community experience and local priorities to be reflected in the public record.
